A Ghost Appears at Troon Old…

They say if you wait long enough, you can see a ghost at Troon Old.

Specifically, you need to wait for a looong dry spell – not something that happens all that often in the rainy West of Scotland.

And the ghost?  It’s the outline of the church’s World War 2 air raid shelter, appearing in the usually beautifully manicured front lawn.

At the front you can clearly see the entrance to the shelter.

Does anyone out there have a photo of the shelter as it was?  Memories of it being used?  Please get in touch with our history team by emailing history@nulltroonold.org.uk.
