Decisions taken at the 2019 General Assembly have the potential to reshape the Church of Scotland at every level, from the local to the national and the General Assembly itself.
Guide to Key Decisions
To help Church members and congregations engage with the reform process, Life and Work has released an excellent free four-page guide summarising the key decisions.
View the guide at www.lifeandwork.org/resources/general-assembly-supplement.
You can read the magazine’s full coverage of the General Assembly in the July 2019 issue of Life and Work, available from the 14th June.
Season of Prayer and Preparation
The Council of Assembly notes that “The Action Plan should be thought of, first and foremost, as an act of faith … we hope to create a prayerful and worshipful sense of expectation that the Church of Scotland is seeking to do a new thing, reliant on the Spirit of God. We also hope to ensure that the Action Plan stands the best possible chance of succeeding”.
As such, the church is encouraged to participate in a Season of Prayer and Preparation, to be held from September through December 2019. A simple set of resources will be made available to aid prayer, reflection and planning.
