1st Troon BB Pipe Band’s Mile of Pennies campaign has ended in style at The 145th Open.
The band tells us:
The Open has arrived in Troon and we’ve bagged the last penny… A whopping 151,787 pennies counted, bagged and banked. We’ve received a number of larger donations as well which brings our total to over £2,200. We made it to Royal Troon in record time and managed 5 holes of golf as well!
Thank you to everyone who contributed in any way, especially to Gertie Kelly who has been a stalwart supporter of this campaign from the beginning.
The band had the honour of performing for the opening ceremony of the Junior Open at Kilmarnock (Barassie) Golf Club on Sunday evening. They then appeared at the other end of town for the presentation of Honorary memberships at Royal Troon on Monday night.
Congratulations to all the boys, Pipe Major Chris Bone, and to all the supporters and friends of 1st Troon BB Pipe Band.
