Sunday 19 November 2017
Advent Sunday (3rd December in 2017) is the first day of the Church year: it’s the start of the season of Advent when we anticipate the coming of Jesus and the celebration of his birth at Christmas.
In Troon the community countdown to Christmas lasts a little longer, and starts with Wintertainment. 🙂
As usual, Troon Old will be playing host to some of the Wintertainment activities during the afternoon. There are more acts than ever this year and the official line-up is as follows – times can (and do!) vary on the day…
|1:00 pm – 1:25 pm||Karalyn Bell School of Dance|
|1:30 pm – 1:55 pm||Troon School of Dance|
|2:00 pm – 2:25 pm||Livewire|
|2:30 pm – 2:55 pm||Sophie Oliver School of Dance|
|3:00 pm – 3:25 pm||Ayrshire Ukulele Clan|
|3:30 pm – 4:00 pm||Young Fiddlers|
Immediately after the parade, our front garden is the place to go to hear SumWumminDrummin with their irrepressible samba drumming.
Mrs Claus will be in residence at Troon Old with her elves and helpers all afternoon. Santa is very busy at this time of year and will be in the Walker Hall at the RNLI Christmas Fayre. So Mrs Claus is lending a hand and we’re sure there will be plenty for her to do!
Cups of tea, coffee and soup will be available in the main hall throughout the afternoon.
It will be a really busy afternoon with a complete change of performers and audience every half hour, so this year we are making a couple of changes for safety reasons:
- The direction of traffic flow will be reversed from previous years. Audiences will enter the main hall from the front door on Ayr Street, and leave via the hall corridor and the central door in the quad. (Access for performers and visitors to Mrs Claus will continue to be via the central door.)
- Sorry, but we can’t allow buggies or prams in the church hall, corridors or doorways.
